The City Palace, or the Palace of the then King of Mewar, is one of the most beautiful places to visit in the city and is most-visited tourist attraction of Udaipur.
The city Palace was built concurrently with establishment of the Udaipur city by Maharana Udai Singh II, in 1559 and his successor Maharanas over a period of the next 300 years, including Rana Karan Singh, and Rana Sangram Singh II. Maharana Sajjan Singh and Maharana Fateh Singh further expanded the palace in the 19th century.
It is sample of status of Mewar Dynasty who ruled over Udaipur.

The City Palace Museum, Udaipur was set up in 1969 by Maharana Bhagwat Singh ji to preserve the cultural heritage and the time honoured traditions of Mewar. It is the jewel in the crown of the Udaipur City Palace, you can immerse yourself in the history of the Mewar, and really get a feel for their culture and how royaly they lived.
Light shows are held in the evening hours and separate entry ticket for this is available at the gate. Guides are always available to show you around the palace at Rs. 100.
